Sydney is the capital of New South Wales, and is the largest city in Australia with a population of approximately 3.8 million.

Located on the eastern seaboard of Australia on a beautiful natural harbour, Sydney has a substantial Central Business District (or CBD), hosting a large number national and international businesses. It also has many classic images of Australia - including the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, and the beaches at Bondi and Manly to name but two of the better known (with apologies to the other beaches further north and south of the city which are arguably more scenic and unspoilt).

Sydney also enjoys a wonderful climate, with daily maximum temperatures often in the low 20's in the middle of winter, although the cost of living in Sydney is the highest of any city in Australia with real estate prices close to the water and the CBD being beyond the reach of most.

If you want to know more about Sydney you can access the following from the links on this page:

  • A searchable database of residential properties for rent - we generally recommend renting a property rather than buying when you move to a new city
  • A businesses for sale database - which should be of particular interest to those who are moving to Australia with business visas
  • The Go Matilda Discussion Forum for Sydney where you can discuss issues with others who are already living and working there

Please contact us if there are any aspects of this section that you would like to see enhanced, and if you are a business based in or close to Sydney that would like to introduce your product or service on this section of the Go Matilda site please don't hesitate to let us know.
