The State of South Australia has expanded the occupations it will consider when an intending skilled migrant is looking for a State Nomination.
The new list of occupations (see the schedule below) is significantly longer than the old list, and to remind those who might not know already, a State Nomination can allow a skilled person to apply for (usually) a Skilled - State Territory Nominated Independent visa under sub-class 137. The benefit of a 137-visa application is that the main visa applicant, having satisfied the basic requirements for a skilled visa (including a positive skills assessment classification), merely needs the Skilled Independent Pool Mark to be eligible - this is currently 70 points - and the visa application will be priority processed by the Skilled Processing Centre in Adelaide, which usually means a visa grant in 3 to 6 months as against typically 9 to 12 months with an application for a Skilled Independent visa under subclass number 136.
