The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council has announced an increase to its migration skills assessment fees from the 1st July, 2009 - and the introduction of an English language competency test for all migration skills assessment applicants.
The new migration skills assessment fees will be as follows:
- Full Assessment: A$690 (currently A$670)
- Modified Assessment: A$210 (currently A$200)
More controversially, all migration skills assessment applicants will be required to successfully complete an English language competency test from the 1st of July, 2009. The ANMC website advises:
"A pass level of 7 in all four bands of the IELTS Academic test or a B level in all four bands of the OET will be required in one sitting. The test will be valid for a period of two years."
This requirement will impact most on applicants from the UK, Ireland, and the US who have historically not been required to demonstrate their English language competency.
If you are a nurse and are considering a move to Australia as a skilled migrant please contact us. Go Matilda has many years of experience assisting nurses with their skills assessment application and subsequent visa application, and we will be delighted to have a free discussion about your situation and your visa strategy.
